The Grand Cru Praelatenberg is located in Kintzheim (67). It has two exposures: East and Southeast, along with a steep and constant slope.
The name of this vineyard, Praelatenberg, comes from the work done by the Benedictine monks of Ebersmunster since the 8th century, calling it "The Hill of the Prelates".
The Grand Cru Praelatenberg Riesling comes from a vineyard on the top of the Grand Cru. Its sandy and rocky soil, together with its south-eastern orientation, promotes low yields and very fast ripening.
The Gneiss subsoil gives the wine great freshness, highlighted by intense salinity and direct acidity.
Harvested by hand. Extended pressing of 8 hours with whole grapes. Aged in stainless steel tanks for 23 months on lees.
