Petit Gaugry is a French soft cheese with a washed rind, made from cow's milk. It has a creamy, melting texture with a sweet, hazelnut flavour. Its rind is washed with saline Burgundy wine which gives it an orange colour and a light cave aroma. This cheese is produced in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region and is usually served as an aperitif or at the end of a meal, accompanied by white or red wine.
In terms of wine pairing, Petit Gaugry can be paired with a light, fruity red wine, such as a Pinot Noir from Burgundy. The red wine complements the creamy texture and sweetness of the cheese. Alternatively, a white Burgundy Chardonnay is also a good choice, as its acidity balances the creaminess of the cheese and brings out its hazelnut flavours.
