The Miellerie du Cambre's Rhododendron Flower High Mountain Honey is an exceptional honey harvested in the Cerdagne region, between 1,500 and 2,200 metres above sea level. The bees work in mountainous areas, such as Eyne, St. Pierre and the ski slopes of Porté Puymorens, where rhododendrons and other wild plants flourish. The honey is harvested at the beginning of August, although in recent years the drought has brought forward the harvesting process.
This summer honey, predominantly rhododendron, also contains nectars of thyme, clover, fireweed, sweet clover and more, creating a soft, floral and slightly fruity flavour profile. Its colour may vary depending on the year, but it is always a delight to accompany mató, goat cheese or to sweeten a yoghurt or an infusion.
With beneficial properties for health, this honey is known to relieve sore throats and is ideal for the vocal cords, especially appreciated by singers. It is also useful for fighting rheumatism and treating gastric ulcers, acting as an antiseptic balm that promotes digestion.
